THE OBJECTIVE
The previous property did not capitalize on the location, so the design team set about creating a large family home, focusing on maximizing interior space (and improving curb appeal), while making the views a prominent feature of the higher floors.
HOW IT WAS ACHIEVED
This family has an active lifestyle and loves to entertain, so conversations about design focussed on those elements.
Essentially 4 levels of living, seamlessly connected.
The upper level has an impressive and bright kitchen with beautiful finishings, opening into a large living room. Separated from the dining room by a spacious deck area, this can be turned into a full indoor/outdoor space for summer meal prep and time spent together.
The main level has the master-suite on one-side for privacy while the kids’ bedrooms on-other. The lower-level has the family’s rec room / theater room complete with wet-bar, bathroom, guest-bedroom – easy conversion to suite in the future.
The steep uphill aspect provided a challenge for entry to the drive, especially for the family’s low ground clearance electric vehicle, but the team worked with the specs provided to ensure the drive presented no issues for vehicle access to the home.
The rooftop deck, with panoramic views of the inlet, is the perfect place to end the day watching the sunset.
