To focus the design on preserving home’s historic character, while enhancing and modernizing it. Function was a consideration for this family to get the most out of a home where they love to entertain.
The entrance foyer was converted from a non-functioning “holding” area to an open and elegant entryway, while integrating smooth access to all areas of the home. The formal kitchen becomes a multi-purpose space for entertainment.
The reconstructed kitchen exudes warmth and comfort for a young family of five, with a functional open concept. There is work space for three chefs, and connectivity to several key stations. A custom thirteen-foot granite island adds extra work space and serves as the room’s centre point, emphasizing the kitchen’s expanse. Eclipse folding doors allow full natural light, and boast great views of the expansive interior and exterior spaces.
Elongated staircase and narrowed upper balcony create a comfortable landing, to highlight a bright transition between the two levels. The millwork and wood trims were designed to complement the traditional themes of travertine and marble with cast-iron railings and the rich tones of the paintwork. Designer’s attention to details gives a sense of flowing spaces. Design detailing brings a sense of cohesion and comfort.
Redesigned porte-cochere and drive create an inviting entry way. New front entry door sidelights and addition of upgraded skylights allow light to flood across the limestone floors that provide a visually unifying theme, carrying their soothing colour palette throughout the main floor.
